Reading and Conversation with Kiese Laymon

Mississippi novelist and memoirist Kiese Laymon joined us for a virtual reading in recognition of the 65th anniversary of the murder of Emmett Till. Laymon is the author of Heavy (2018), winner of the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction. Laymon read an excerpt from Mississippi: A Poem in Days. A conversation with Clarisse Rosaz Shariyf, ETP co-curator and Director of Literary Programs and Associate Director of World Voices Festival at PEN America, followed the reading.

This program took place on August 28, 2020 and was co-sponsored with the Emmett Till Interpretive Center in Mississippi.
